Indian Snuff - The Scents of India

Opened the door on Tuesday morning and was delighted to see the chirpy postman with a small package for me from India.

Like a child on Christmas day I excitedly ran upstairs to undo this package from distant shores and found 10 sample packets of snuff from Dholakia Tobacco. I'd never tried any Indian snuff before so I hurriedly opened the fist packet that I could get on called 'Ganga Snuff', yes, yes, I know, but this has nothing to do with the other herb that people like to smoke. I took a larger pinch than usual and then took a step back as the snuff seemed a little stronger than I had expected and had an overwhelming floral fragrance. In fact it was almost like I had fallen into a rose bush, without the thorns of course.

I then tried the Sparrow snuff and the sparrow cool snuff, which had a unique taste, unlike any other European snuffs that I have tried. My favourite, however, has to be the Manjul snuff, which has a lovely clove aroma. This snuff took me right back to the time I spent in India. Ah yes, the long hazy sunsets, the sounds of car horns beeping through the night, the cries of the chai sellers, the wandering water buffalos, the smell of burning sandalwood...............
