Badly Smelling Pubs

Well, it's now official after a few weeks of the smoking ban being in place, that pubs do actually smell very bad once you remove the overriding fumes of the common cigarette. According to a recent article in the Spectator, pubs now "give off a noxious aroma of stale beer, missed urinals, damp dogs and damp old men and the flatulence of both" If you combine this with the smell of stale smoke that you just can't get rid of then it would seem that the pub would only appeal to hardened drinkers. A lot of publicans have taken advantage of this ban to close temporarily and refurbish their pubs and freshen up the odour, although for the already stricken pub trade this is not an option for many pubs. It seems that this is not the only thing that publicans need to be concerned about at the moment as they have had to fork out for extra equipment to provide for the last remaining smokers and if market research is to believed then their profits are going to be taking a severe dent as well. According to Nielsen, a leading market researcher, beer sales in England and Wales will be reduced by 200 million pints a year. So what is the answer? Well, what about snuff? For the publican, this offers their punters a new way of taking their daily dose of nicotine on board and for the punters, a bit of snuff up the hooter, flushes away any other unwelcome odours!!! <<< Back To STUK News " target="_blank">Read Full article
